Abstract

This Paper proposes a method to solve the Dynamic Economic Load Dispatch problem of
generating units with combined economic and emission dispatch. The need for consideration of
emission constraints in the process of economic dispatch has increased to a great extent owing to
the growth of environmental concerns of the modern world. Hence a multi objective framework is
needed where the objective function is a combination of emission and economic cost factors. The
multi objective problem has been converted into single objective function using price penalty
factor. The feasibility of the proposed work is verified by applying it to standard IEEE test systems
and the results obtained substantiate the effectiveness of the approach with the other computational
algorithm. The reduction of computation time makes the proposed method highly applicable for the
effective decisions of Real time On-Line dispatch of power by the control centres.
