Abstract

The present study deals with the Optimization of testing parametersin Immersion Corrosion Testing
of Aluminium alloy (Al6061) – Alumina (Al2O3) Composites fabricated by Stir casting used in Ship
hulls. The sample specimens are made by varying the percentage of reinforcements with respect to
aluminium alloy. Aluminium is compared with the Al6061- Al2O3 composites because the composite
samples have improved corrosion resistance than the individual aluminium alloy. Finally, the most
suitable composite that is having the best corrosion resistance is optimized using Box Behnken
technique in Response Surface Methodology.
