Abstract

An efficient, facile route has been disclosed for synthesis of benzofuro derivatives by
electrochemical oxidation of catechol at platinum electrode in the presence of active methylene
group. Electro-organic synthesis has been performed in an undivided cell at ambient conditions.
The products have been characterized by FTIR,1HNMR,13 CNMR and mechanism was deduced by
voltammetric studies.
